This page provides some detail of those members of the Easton Corps who have some special responsibilities. Of course there are many more who undertake important jobs within the Corps, and we will introduce others to you as time goes on. So - make sure you re-visit us again in a couple of month's time!!


Major Paul and Major Lorna Doust

Major Lorna Doust – Entered The SA Training College from Worthing Corps as a member of the Blood & Fire Session: Commissioned in 1972 – Appointed to Worcester Corps; then Officer in Charge at Birmingham South Yardley, Kidsgrove Stoke-on-Trent and Dunstable – Married 1977

Major Paul Doust – Entered The SA Training College from Oxford Corps as a member of the Companions of Christ Session: Commissioned in 1977 – Married 1977

Appointments together: Leicester New Parks, Coalville [Leicestershire], Beccles [Suffolk], Treharris & Treforest [S.Wales], Cambridge Citadel, Stapleford Citadel, Leigh-on-Sea, Gloucester, Bristol Easton 

Majors Paul & Lorna have two sons: Philip & Andrew    

Hilary Gambling

Every organisation needs someone to look after the books, and Hilary undertakes the role of Treasurer at Easton. This is a major role within the Corps and she is ideally qualified to do this being an employee of one of the clearing banks. Hilary lives in Clevedon, which is a small town just outside Bristol.

Nathan Cole

Nathan was appointed Bandmaster at Easton in May 2008, having previously been the flugel horn player in the Band and percussion. He has also served as Y.P. Band leader at the corps.

He is also the percussionist of the International Staff Band

 

Major Phyllis Thomas

Major Thomas is a retired Salvation Army Officer, and has spent much of her life as a missionary in India. She is now responsible for the Silver Threads Club, and has her hands full organising a very full and diverse programme for that group.

Cathy Brittan

Cathy is our Corps Organising Secretary and chairs a small team who arrange the special events at the Corps, including two large annual 'Specials', the Spring Festival and the Colston Hall Festival of Christmas Music & Carols.

Martin Wallis

Martin was appointed Corps Youth Secretary in 2006 and is married to Rachel. With one young son Matthew, Martin has ample experience of the teen years as his day job is as a Geography teacher in a local secondary school and with the lively group we have at Easton both his skills and patience are tested!

Sue Alcock

Sue is a member of the Corps Board, and has responsibility for the Training and Development Group.
Sue manages a voluntary counselling organisation and has a small private counselling and supervision practice. She and her husband worship at the corps along with their two daughters, their husbands and children.

Marilyn Cassells

Marilyn is the Corps Secretary and has oversight for the administration and organisation of the Corps. Her role is to maintain registers, take minutes of meetings, and to ensure that the record keeping is well maintained. Marilyn is a primary school teacher and she lives just over the Second Severn Crossing, in Gwent.

Martyn Bryant

Martyn was commissioned as songster leader in 2004, after serving as Deputy Bandmaster for almost thirty years.
Martyn runs his own wholesale greeting card business, and is married to Christine who is the Corps Youth Secretary.
Martyn is principal Solo cornet in Easton Band and is also a member of the International Staff Band.

Hilton Baker

Hilton was appointed as Corps Sergeant Major in June 2005, although he has also held this position at both Bristol Horfield, and Norwich Citadel. Hilton has been involved in the financial services industry, but has recently retired.

 

Marilyn Bryant

Marilyn was appointed as Singing Company Leader in September 2005, although she has held this position on a previous occasion. A headteacher of an Infant School in Bristol, Marilyn has had considerable experience of leadership, and in particular of musical leadership. She lives in Yatton, near Bristol, and has two grown up children.

Rosemary Greenwood

Rosemary is our Young People's Sergeant Major, and leads a team who both care and instruct our children in the Christian way of Life.
Rosemary is a Midwife by profession and soldiers with her husband Mike  in the corps.
